Opening today at the Q Pop Gallery is the horror themed exhibition called 'Black Christmas.' I went to the preview last night and the artwork as amazing! People are so creative with their submissions, it's a show everyone should see. The show will be open from December 15th - 30th, go check it out while you can!
This was my submission for the show, called 'Love and Gore.' While I was conceiving the idea for this piece, I thought of a woman getting murdered coming home from work from a vengeful ex-lover. Perhaps coming home from a work Christmas party?
Last Saturday I got to be apart of the Japanese sci-fi exhibition called Tokusatsu. I'm not super familiar with the genre, but I am always grateful when I get to draw monsters! Here is my final piece called 'King Ghidora.'
I made him using a linoleum print. It's a process where you carve into a linoleum block and roll ink on it and stamp the paper layer by layer. I'm not going to lie, it was harder than I anticipated and I almost gave up twice. Out of six papers I started with, only one really turned out.
The gallery show was completely packed! There were food trucks, a costume contest, toys, all sorts of fun things, and AMAZING art. There were a ton of awesome pieces that you can still check out at the store in Little Tokyo or the Q Pop online store.
QPop Gallery in Downtown LA is having a Black and White show this Saturday the seventh! Pieces are black and white only, so I did these two pieces with ink, a brush and a quill pen. There are lots of awesome artists that are going to be there, so if you're nearby, come on out!
UPDATE: Check out the QPop blog that features my work!!!
